on burnouts and boredom

So I've been pretty busy lately and I keep postponing writing posts until the last possible moment.

Which has got me feeling like the whole purpose of this is starting to change.

Having a blog wasn't supposed to be something that I would have to plan, or worry about, or any of that.

It was supposed to be for fun, a little internet journal that I shared with people.

And while it's cool to think about blogging professionally and maybe someday as a source of income...that's not what I want to focus on right now.

I don't want blogging to lose its sparkle. It kind of happened with my small business this winter.

I was doing really well. I was super excited about started a website and expanding my products...and at first, I loved it.

The problem was that I had made it part of my projects for school. It became like something I had to do, because I had committed to it, and put so much effort and time into it. I made myself feel like it was something I had to do.

The sad truth is, I got burned out.

It got tiring.

I got bored.

It just wasn't fun anymore.

And I think another reason why, is because I was so focused on growing my account, and starting a website, and having thousands of followers, and creating content people would like and save and making my products Pinterest-worthy and all that stupid stuff.

And it wasn't even about me and my dream anymore.

I'm just scared of that happening again. With the blog.

So! In conclusion, I'm not going to schedule when I post, or try to write stuff people will enjoy. Because I'm not that kind of person.

Not to throw shade at people who are great at their niche and creating content that people love. I think it's a skill, and it's one I haven't yet learned.

This is supposed to be for ME, and whoever decides to go out of their way to read these dumb things.

That is, if anyone does.

That's all. I hope you're doing okay and I'll see u next time. :)

stayyyy cool ofc

i took one of those personality quizzes...

Happy Monday!!

Or not so happy. Whatever. I hate Mondays, so not sure why I started off this post with a contradictory sentence...

Anyway, SO! Sometime during this past week my Drama teacher gave us an assignment. We're supposed to analyze our characters, collect information about their relationships, circumstances, goals, etc.

This, for some reason, gave me the idea to take a personality quiz, pretending to be my character in the play, to see what type she (Olivia from Twelfth Night) was.

So I ended up taking the quiz, but as myself first.

I was reminded of my love for online quizzes like "what disney princess are you" and "which marvel character are you most like."

It was a fun quiz. Aaaand I got the results and thought it would be fun to analyze my apparent type and share what I think is accurate about me!

Soooo...

My type is the Architect, or INTJ-T

Sounds smart! Also I have no idea what those letters stand for.

Apparently I am 79% introverted and 21% extroverted. (I definitely agree)

With my 'mental energy' I'm 51% intuitive and 49% observant,

With decision making and emotionally coping I am 55% thinking and 45% feeling,

And with my identity and self-confidence I'm 8% assertive and 92% turbulent.

I think these stats are pretty accurate, especially the first and last. I don't feel like I'm very intuitive though. Honestly it's just hard to know how people are REALLY feeling. Most of the time I have to just come out and ask them bluntly if they're mad at me. And usually they aren't. So uh... I'm not very good at reading people/situations.

Apparently, Architects are both the "boldest of dreamers" and the "bitterest of pessimists."

woah way to call me out there πŸ’€

"In school, these personality types may have been called 'bookworms' or 'nerds.'"

HEY THATS ME!!!

"Architects question everything."

Yes.

"Ever-skeptical Architects prefer to make their own discoveries. In their quest to find better ways of doing things, they aren't afraid to break the rules or risk disapproval."

Mmmmm I don't know. I personally feel like a people pleaser sometimes, not that I try to do things to please people, but I worry about what people think of me, and I feel like stuff I say/do is stupid.

Anyway.

"This personality type comes with a strong independent streak. Architects don’t mind acting alone, perhaps because they don’t like waiting around for others to catch up with them. They also generally feel comfortable making decisions without asking for anyone else’s input. At times, this lone-wolf behavior can come across as insensitive, as it fails to take into consideration other people’s thoughts, desires, and plans."

"Architects aren’t known for being warm and fuzzy. They tend to prioritize rationality and success over politeness and pleasantries – in other words, they’d rather be right than popular. This may explain why so many fictional villains are modeled on this personality type."

oop😐

"Because Architects value truth and depth, many common social practices – from small talk to white lies – may seem pointless or downright stupid to them. As a result, they may inadvertently come across as rude or even offensive when they’re only trying to be honest. At times, Architects may wonder if dealing with other people is even worth the frustration."

OMG YESSS 😭😭😭

"But like any personality type, Architects do crave social interaction – they’d just prefer to surround themselves with people who share their values and priorities. Often, they can achieve this just by being themselves. When Architects pursue their interests, their natural confidence can draw people to them – professionally, socially, and even romantically."

Idk about the last part... but yeah. It is easier to be around people you can agree with and relate to...obviously.

Natural confidence? What's that?

"Architects you may know:"

  • Michelle Obama
  • Elon Musk
  • Samantha Power
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger
  • Gandalf the Grey
  • Katniss Everdeen

Huh. Cool

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES!!!

Strengths:

  • Rational
  • Independent
  • Determined
  • Curious
Weaknesses:
  • Dismissive of emotions
  • Overly critical (ouch)
  • Combative
  • Romantically clueless (wtf man)

It's relationship time ig 😎

"For these personalities, finding a compatible partner can be a particular challenge. Rarely satisfied with things as they are, Architects are always developing a world in their minds that is more perfect than reality. Other people entering their world need to fit this fantasy in some way. But if Architects’ expectations and ideals for a partner are unrealistic, then no real person will be able to fulfill them in every way."

Ahaha...whatttt?? Noooo wayyyyyy....I definitely don't prefer fictional characters over real people...

Ok ok I have high standards...but who could NOT when there's Peter Parker and Gilbert Blythe and Jack Dawson and I could go on and on but I'll spare you this time

"Architects care about depth and intelligence, and they insist on honest, open communication. For them, a relationship that isn’t founded on these values is hardly worth pursuing."

πŸ‘COMMUNICATIONπŸ‘ISπŸ‘KEYπŸ‘

Sometimes, Architects’ best strategy is to focus on what they enjoy rather than struggle against the rules of dating. Ironically, people with this personality type are often most attractive when they aren’t trying to be. Just doing what they do best – pursuing the interests that light them up – can help their confidence and intelligence shine."

Awwwww😌

"Sharp-witted and darkly funny, Architects aren’t everyone’s cup of tea – and they’re okay with that. For the most part, people with this personality type aren’t obsessed with being popular. They don’t spend their time and energy on just anyone, and they can be difficult to get to know."

"But this doesn’t mean that Architects are antisocial or friendless. In fact, few things are more exhilarating to Architect personalities than the spark they feel when they connect with someone who really gets them."

Yes!

I often don't feel connections with people right off the bat. It takes lots of time for me to really open up and kind of BECOME myself and be comfortable around that person.

Also my sense of humor is being mean to my friends and I think that not everyone gets that...heh

"In their friendships, as in other aspects of their lives, Architects prize independence. Social obligations can feel stifling to people with this personality type. Architects don’t want to feel beholden to their friends, and they don’t want their friends to feel beholden to them. For them, an ideal friendship is low drama, based on mutual respect rather than obligation."

yes yes and yes

"Among friends whom they know and respect, Architects have no trouble relaxing and being themselves. Their sarcasm and witty banter may not be for everyone – especially people who struggle to read between the lines."

Yep this is what I was just saying lol

Career stuff:

"The truth is that Architects can excel in just about any role. Some careers with strong social components, such as sales or human resources, might not seem like obvious fits – but fortunately, Architects know how to look beyond the obvious. These personalities have the creativity and vision to make important contributions in any workplace, and these skills certainly give them a leg up if they choose to start their own business."

"What Architects want – wherever they may be in their careers – is to pursue their professional goals according to their own standards. And if any personality type has high standards for themselves, it’s almost certainly Architects."

"Armed with powerful intellects and strategic minds, Architects can outmaneuver obstacles that seem unbeatable to most. But their strengths, when misunderstood, can turn into weaknesses – and keep them from reaching their full potential."

Wow!!

There was definitely a lot of stuff in there that felt pretty relatable for me. It was really interesting to take the quiz. I ended up taking it for some of my characters in the book I'm writing and for my role in the play. It's super fun!! 10/10 recommend.

In fact, here's the link so you can do it rn:

Thanks for reading!! Have a good week :)

Otis Dawayne Ryan, 30, allegedly climbed on top of one of a children’s toy at a playground near Pier 60 in Tampa Bay and shouted to a group of four and six-year-olds about where babies come from, and used a “vulgar term in doing so,” The Tampa Bay Times reported, citing an arrest report.

Florida man bit on tongue by rattlesnake he tried to kiss

A neighbor said Reinold had been drinking while handling the snake.

The reptile appeared calm until Reinold moved toward it as if to kiss it. That's when the snake bit him.

"He said, 'I'm going to kiss it in the mouth,' and the snake bit him in the face," said Charles Goff, who said he found the snake. "Ron was just acting silly, you know? I guess he said he could kiss the devil and get away with it, but evidently he didn't."

Authorities identified the snake as an eastern diamondback rattlesnake, one of 16 venomous species of rattlesnakes in the United States.

It's illegal to keep a rattlesnake in Florida without a license.

 Heyyy!

This week's post is going to be a bit shorter because I've been sort of stressed and not feeling the best and drained from the New Years Eve post haha.

Speaking of New Years, how was everyone's? Mine was very chill, I stayed up till midnight with my siblings and then went to bed.

Today I am doing one of those bleach painting of jeans diys. Not sure how it'll turn out...the first time I mixed the bleach with water and it wasn't light enough so I did a second coat with pure bleach. The pants are sitting out in the sun now...hope they look cute in the end lol.

So! My *top* favorite books + series! Some of these books I read in middle school or earlier, but I still think high schoolers could enjoy them.

new years resolutions, change, new things, etc.

Heyyy!

How's it going?

Today is New Years Eve, so I'm publishing this post early, because by the usual posting time comes around, everyone will be thinking about other stuff and I don't think this post will be relevant anymore lol

Update, I'm starting to posting weekly, on Mondays. Yayyy!! *also someone said I should start writing like a normal person and actually capitalize things.... so we're trying it out.*

Before we get into it, I thought I'd give a little life update first :)

I'm bummed winter break is ending. I've worked a few times, but since the ovens at the restaurant are broken, it's been chaotic. I haven't made any candles, and I've only gone to volleyball once...

Yesterday night one of my friends spent the night, we talked a LOT and caught up and it was great.

Aaaaaand New Years Eve tonight....guess what. I have NOTHING planned.

The youth group is going sledding from 1-5...but it has been in the single digits here and sledding also isn't my favorite thing. Soooo... yeah! I had the idea to host a huge party, but there are 3 problems to that idea. One, I came up with it late yesterday night, so it's wayyy too last minute, two, my parents are going to be gone, and we need adult supervision or whatever, and three, well, I don't have enough friends for a huge party anyway 😐

I invited an old friend over, but she wasn't able to make it. So I think I'll just get some homework done, maybe write a song, and just chill.

To kinda ease into the main topic, something I've learned recently is that you don't always have to have plans. I was honestly bummed and disappointed that I didn't have plans for New Years Eve. It made me feel boring and uninteresting....like I'm 15. We're supposed to be going to parties and having lit crazy movie moments...right?

But I realized, hey, it's OKAY if this year I stay home and watch the ball drop in times square BY MYSELF!! Because maybe next year I'll go to a party, or have an all-nighter, or go visit family. I am learning to be okay with not doing something crazy every single year. :)

That being said, it made me think about the new year in general. And these things we call resolutions. I think that we form them to better ourselves in someway, or change something we did last year that we want to fix, grow, etc.

I have mixed feelings about all of this.

I think goal-setting is great. I recommend using a planner, either on your phone or having a booklet one, and also creating to-do lists for each day, so you can feel accomplished and BE accomplished.

Buuuut, I know from personal experience, that if/when you don't complete that to-do list, forget to do something, didn't quite get to it, and leave that item uncrossed off, it can make you feel like crap.

Unfortunately, because of that one unfinished task, our brains can make us feel like we un incapable of doing the simplest things. We tell ourselves that we're stupid, distracted, useless, and should probably just give up on our goals.

Harsh!

Well, of course it sounds harsh when you see it written down like this.

But we honestly normalize this kind of negative self talk, and I think that some of this is planted by unrealistic goal setting, hence the connection to 'resolutions'.

Some of the most common New Years resolutions sound something like these:

Exercise more.

Lose weight.

Get organized.

Find a new hobby.

Quit smoking.

Drink more water.

Very blunt and to the point, making them seem simple and easier than they are.

I feel like this is the problem we create - we give ourselves too much to change at a time.

Say you wanted to start losing weight in the upcoming year.

How do you even begin to accomplish that huge goal? It feels sort of vague, and there are so many little thresholds within that bigger goal that make it seem super overwhelming if you take a step back.

I think the solution to this is taking it day by day. Maybe your resolution in your journal instead of lose weight, can be research weight loss programs

Breaking the big goal into smaller pieces makes it more realistic, measureable, specific, and achievable, and sets you up to be successful and without fear of failure.

Conclusion, I think resolutions are great, if you look closer, establish your specific goal, and make a well-thought-out and personalized PLAN for acomplishment! :)

Change!

Change is hard. It's also inevitable.

The new year often brings opportunities for people, circumstances, and environments to shift, sometimes for better, and sometimes for worse.

Sometimes it's little things, like classes at school changing, new sports interfering with your schedule, etc.

And sometimes it's bigger things like friends that have become distant and awkward, or family stuff, or moving houses/towns.

It's just hard.

All of it.

We get so used to our normal routine, that when something messes it all up, we get really frustrated.

Generally, people cope with change in two ways, escape coping and control coping.

The first is avoiding the change. This could look like ignoring someone who's been reaching out to you after something hard, or avoiding a friend you've been needing to confront, or choose not to do homework for a new class you have that's been challenging.

The second is more proactive and often more positive, by taking control of the change and refusing to be the victim of it. This could look like getting support, reaching out, and embracing the ups and downs life throws at you.

If you're more of an escaper (like me lol), there are some good strategies for dealing with change, and I just thought I'd share! :)

ACKNOWLEDGE THE CHANGE.
Instead of denial, say "things are changing, and it's okay" !!

REFRAME YOUR THINKING TO ACCENUATE THE POSITIVE!
Becoming aware of negative thoughts and realizing how they bring you down is a big step toward becoming more comfortable with change. You are now able to shift those thoughts and see the positives of the changes.

MAINTAIN SOME NORMALCY.
Even though some things will be constantly changing, you will always be able to find things that stay the same. Keep some things routine and a regular part of your day, but don't hold onto them SO tight that you lose your progress in becoming okay with change. :)

CREATE COMFORT.
Sometimes we need to go to our happy place for a little while, whether that's listening to music, getting coffee, spending time with your mom, walking your dog, or whatever!

GET SUPPORT <3
It's important to vent (to a certain level), and to have people who support you in all the changes you go through.

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS!!
This is kind of like number two, but it's SO important. Remember that there will always be things to look forward to and enjoy, and no matter what, we have so much to be thankful for. :)

Wow!! That was a lot. I hope you found something that stuck with you, and I hope you have an amazing New Years Eve tonight.

I wish the best for u in 2022!! Sending love, blessings, + prayers allllll around the world <33

Happy New Year!

Stay cool ;)
